Wilkins founded and directed for 13 years (2001 – 2014) EDGEWORKS Dance Theater, an all-male company of predominately African American men – the first of its kind in Washington DC. Through the mission and work of EDT dance became a vehicle to break down stereotypes about men, specifically from African-American perspectives, and to create projects that blur the lines between art and social justice.
